Live Review: High Point University Band Concert

High Point University Band Concert

By Jarray Davis

On Monday, April 25, High Point held their annual Spring Band Concert at the new amphitheater on the campus of HPU.

With the nice sunset in the horizons behind the playing of the band, the night was set for an amazing occasion.

Under the leadership of Dr. Danny Frye and his companion Dr. Brian Meixner, the band played a variety of genres that including compositions from John Barnes Chance, Richard Saucedo, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Michael Band.

With a band over 50 members strong in number, released the sound of music so that the whole campus of High Point University could hear and a sound that the filled amphitheater would enjoy for the remainder of the night.

As the bass drum boomed and the trumpets sang, smiles and applause were released throughout the audience for the duration of the event.

With a proud president in Nido Qubein sitting front row, the band made sure not to disappoint on their last concert of the year.

To conclude the concert, the band played “Pixar Movie Magic”, a fun piece that allows the mind to remember all the fun Pixar movie songs that we used to love so much.

The High Point University Spring Band Concert was one that brought excitement, fun and relaxation. The next concert will take place next school year in the fall.

Duration: 1 hr 30 min
Directors: Dr. Danny Frye, Dr. Brian Meixner
